Hi, my name is Yuki Shimizu. I am a native Japanese speaker and grew up in Shizuoka, Japan, and a Certified Japanese Neurolanguage Coach®︎ (accredited by International Coaching Federation). Also, I am working as a full-time college Japanese instructor in Wisconsin, USA. I have been teaching Japanese for about eight years.
Since childhood, I have always been fascinated by the Japanese language, especially pronunciation. I moved to the US with my family and went to a small private high school. Unfortunately, I did not have time to read and write in Japanese and realized how much I missed using Japanese. That’s how I started my journey as a Japanese teacher.
Education:
- B.A in Japanese Linguistics: International Christian University, Tokyo
- M.A in Japanese Linguistics: University of Wisconsin-Madison
- 420-Hour Advanced Skills of Teaching Japanese Language Course
- ELC Certified and Accredited Neurolanguage Coach
- ELC Certified and Accredited Advanced Neurolanguage Coach (in the process)

Why Neurolanguage Coaching?
One of the issues I encountered while teaching in the college was that no brains are the same. I noticed that my students had different learning styles, interests, and goals. How can I support my students to learn better? That question motivated me to be a Neurolanguage Coach¹. As a coach, I integrate neuroscience and coaching techniques to help you learn Japanese faster and more efficiently. I create a 100% customized program just for you based on your needs, goals, learning styles, and more. I am not a traditional teacher who follows the textbook and tells you what to do. This is your journey, so why don’t you get to decide what and how you want to learn? I listen to you, support and encourage you throughout your journey until
reaching your goals.
